Why is Estate Planning Important?

When we pass away, our assets are divided up among the people we have named in our “Will”. If you don’t have a “Will”, your assets will be divided among your spouse and your children. If you have no children, then your assets will go to your spouse, and believe it or not a portion of your assets will also go to the government.  It is important to have an estate plan that is appropriate for you. A lot of people don’t think about what happens when they are gone. They think that their family will take care of their needs, but in reality, it’s just the opposite. If you don’t plan, your family could be left with a huge amount of responsibility, and they may not be able to meet all of theirs and your needs at the time.
